Minor arrested on suspicion of spray-painting the BiH Embassy building

(Patria) - "Police officers of the Podgorica Security Department arrested a minor (16) last night on suspicion that on December 16, they spray-painted multiple graffiti on the building of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Podgorica with messages glorifying the war crime in Srebrenica and graffiti with symbols indicating hate speech, as well as Nazi symbols spray-painted on a plaque dedicated to the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah in Argentina Square," the Police Directorate announced.

The state prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica was informed of the event, who ordered that a criminal complaint be filed against him on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of inciting national, racial, and religious hatred, by spray-painting graffiti on the building of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the night of December 16.

-Regarding the symbols spray-painted on the plaque hung in Argentina Square, on the occasion of celebrating the Jewish holiday, the competent prosecutor at the Higher State Prosecutor's Office stated that there are no elements of a criminal offense in the said event. Police officers of the Podgorica Security Department assessed that the minor's actions constitute elements of an offense under the Law on Public Order and Peace and arrested him, the statement said.

Today, he will be brought before the Misdemeanor Court in Podgorica for further jurisdiction, along with a request to initiate misdemeanor proceedings.

-Police Directorate officials will continue to intensively implement measures and actions in the coming period to identify and prosecute perpetrators of criminal offenses and misdemeanors that incite or encourage national, religious, and racial intolerance and discrimination, with the aim of preserving public order and peace, protecting fundamental rights and freedoms, as well as the safety of all citizens - the statement said.
Let us remind you that two days ago, the inscription "General, thank you for Srebrenica" appeared on the concrete fence of the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Podgorica.

The scandalous graffiti, which openly glorifies the genocide committed in July 1995 in Srebrenica and the convicted war criminal Ratko Mladić, was sharply condemned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stating that the heinous and unacceptable act represents a direct attack not only on the diplomatic representation of a friendly country but also on fundamental civilizational values, the culture of remembrance, and the dignity of the victims of the most serious crimes committed on European soil after World War II.

Other officials have not commented on this occasion.

In addition to the controversial graffiti, a cross with four ocila, a symbol of nationalist and extremist iconography, was also spray-painted.
