(Patria) - Bijeljina Mayor Ljubiša Petrović has been arrested, ATV has confirmed.
Petrović was brought in for questioning at the Bijeljina police today. He has been detained for 24 hours and will be transferred to the Prosecutor's Office tomorrow.
Within the next 24 hours, the Prosecutor's Office will decide on his pre-trial detention.
Bijeljina police searched official premises at the Bijeljina City Administration today. The searches were conducted under the supervision of the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijeljina.
Ljubiša Petrović, along with Dalibor Lazić and Gordana Petrović, are suspected of approving payments and spending from the budget amounting to slightly over 476,000 KM between June 1, 2023, and the end of March 2024, without public procurement procedures, by issuing conclusions as responsible persons within the City Administration.
On the other hand, Savo Ostojić submitted invoices to a company in Bijeljina after the collection of funds from the Bijeljina budget in this amount.
