The light behind the lens of Muhamed Badi Tunović has gone out

(Patria) - After a short illness, Muhamed Badi Tunović, a long-time photojournalist and chronicler of life in Zenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina, died at the age of 58.

For more than 20 years, he was an irreplaceable part of the Oslobođenje editorial team, and as described by this Bosnian media house, Tuna was quiet, modest, and always where he needed to be. His photographs were not just images, but stories told with feeling, attention, and respect.

Tunović captured all the important events in Zenica with his lens. He had several solo and group exhibitions, and was a permanent associate of the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica, where through exhibitions he presented actors in their true, human dimension.

Among the more significant projects is the exhibition “Olympians, good luck,” dedicated to three Zenica natives – Amel Tuka, Hamza Alić, and Mesud Pezer, who represented Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Together with his long-time colleague and journalist from Zenica, Mirza Dajić, he participated in the publication of the book "From Bilino Polje to the Acropolis." They formed an inseparable team – a duo that, with a group of friends, traveled for years by van across Europe following the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also exploring and recording stories about cultures and events beyond the borders of our country.

His contribution to journalism in Zenica and Bosnia and Herzegovina will be measured not only by years of work, but also by the trace he left in the collective memory.

The public will be informed in a timely manner about the date and place of the commemoration and funeral prayer.
