Association Svjetlo Donated 3,000 KM

The Municipality of Centar Sarajevo continues its long-standing tradition of providing financial assistance to organizations that show special care for persons with disabilities, especially those with intellectual difficulties and reduced abilities. This local community continuously provides funds to the NGO of altruists for helping persons with reduced abilities „Svjetlo“ for the implementation of the project „Educational Center for Social Inclusion „S...““ For this project, the Municipality of Centar allocated 3,000 marks through a grant for non-profit organizations from the 2016 budget, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Persons with reduced abilities, after completing formal education, are left solely to their families and become socially excluded, because there is no systematic social care after the completion of education. In order to be socially included, preserve and improve acquired knowledge and skills, it is necessary for them to spend their free time in a quality manner and acquire new skills and knowledge.

The main goal of this project is to increase the social inclusion of persons with reduced abilities, increase their participation in social events, improve their independence and personal skills.

The project includes 96 interactive workshops for a total of 24 young people with reduced abilities, which are implemented through educational programs: „Health“, „Ecology“, „Culture“ and „Social Activities“.

The Executive Director of the NGO of altruists „Svjetlo“, Haris Čaušević, expressed special gratitude to the Municipality of Centar for its continuous support, with the hope that the good cooperation will continue.

- It is very important that the Municipality of Centar has continuously supported the Association for eleven years, and I believe that this is a very important segment. This primarily contributes to fulfilling the mission of our organization, which is the implementation of social inclusion programs for young people with reduced abilities who are in the family. Through the educational center for social inclusion, young people with reduced abilities have the opportunity to develop social skills and participate in public events. The project implementation started in June, and we continue working in September - said Čaušević.
