Association of BiH Generals Welcomes NATO Parliamentary Assembly Stances

(Patria) - The Association of Generals of Bosnia and Herzegovina fully supports and welcomes the decisions and stances of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly adopted on March 24 in Tallinn, as part of a comprehensive reform of partnerships.

"The decisions of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly have created new statuses for countries aspiring to join the Alliance, for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, and Georgia. Membership in NATO would seal the successful cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Armed Forces of BiH with NATO, which also builds on the earlier cooperation between the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and NATO. We are proud of our cooperation with the Alliance, as well as of NATO's activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have provided and continue to provide stability and security to our homeland.

We must emphasize that the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the only regular military force that defended the state during the aggression from 1992 to 1995, which was later confirmed by the verdicts of international courts in The Hague, which explicitly stated: that the HVO, together with the Croatian Army, participated in the aggression against BiH, and the Army of Republika Srpska together with the Yugoslav Army. We also remind that the Army of Republika Srpska, together with the RS Ministry of Interior, was convicted for genocide in Srebrenica.

Just as during the war, defending our homeland, we were unquestionably on the side of Western values, so today we fully support the Euro-Atlantic integration of our state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has never had and has no alternative.

Therefore, we once again welcome and support the decisions and stances of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, as well as the decision of the Council of the European Union to start accession negotiations with BiH," the statement reads.
