Associations of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide Demand Adoption of Amendments to Election and Criminal Law

The Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Movement of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa, along with 35 other associations and non-governmental organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, support the initiative of MP Denis Bećirović for amendments to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina and amendments to the Election Law of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria agency.

- Associations and non-governmental organizations that have supported MP Bećirović's proposal regarding the legal prevention and punishment of public approval, denial, and gross minimization of genocide, the Holocaust, crimes against humanity, and war crimes against the civilian population, as determined by international and domestic courts, have been drawing attention to the importance and necessity of this law for years.

Furthermore, they believe it is essential that the Election Law prevents the candidacy of convicted war criminals so that victims and survivors can confront their past and integrate into the public and social life of BiH society.

We call on the MPs of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to support the adoption of the amendments to the laws.
