Victims' associations wrote to Sattler, it is horrifying that the army that committed genocide is being revived

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The "Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves" Movement and the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide sent a letter to Johann Sattler, Head of the EU Delegation.

We are transmitting it in its entirety.

- Thank you for your response, in which you clarified your position, or rather the EC's position on the situation in BiH. We also understood that our concern for the situation in BiH is reminiscent of the pre-war period and causes horror; for us, it is truly horrifying.

If someone wants to reaffirm an army that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has determined is responsible for committed genocide, then of course, for us, it is a horrifying thought. For us, it is the same as if someone in the Federal Republic of Germany tried to revive the SS units.

As you know, the VRS is responsible for the most brutal crimes in Europe since World War II and that two UN courts have given their opinions on the VRS as a criminal organization and an organization that was an integral part of a joint criminal enterprise.

Today, unfortunately, more than 25 years later, the same scenario is unfolding with a large number of the same participants.

Due to the slowness and sloppiness of the BiH judiciary, as well as neighboring countries where, according to official data, over 300 individuals suspected of war crimes are hiding, we, the victims, are now awaiting the re-gathering of criminals under the guise of the "VRS".

The very thought that, if you allow the conclusions of Republika Srpska to be realized, criminals hiding from justice will freely enter Republika Srpska and be the bearers of the formation of the VRS fills us with fear and horror that the events of the 90s will be repeated.

For the reasons stated, we ask you, as the guarantor of the Dayton Peace Agreement, to prevent and obstruct the continuation of activities on the implementation of the conclusions of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska - they concluded in the letter.
