Associations tell Grubeša: Stop misleading the public about the Revised Strategy

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Minister Josip Grubeša does not relent in his political pressure for the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina to adopt the so-called Revised Strategy for the prosecution of war criminals.

The cause for the new political pressure to adopt the said strategy and the attack on victims is, by all accounts, the stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina of Joanne Korner, the person who in 2016, in cooperation with the OSCE and ICTY, produced a critical report on the work of BiH institutions in war crimes cases in BiH.

Joanne Korner has completed her new mission in BiH these days, and her new report on the prosecution of criminals and the state of war crimes cases in BiH is expected soon.

The obvious fear of Joanne Korner's new report has reactivated the mandators of Minister Grubeša to renew pressure on the Council of Ministers of BiH, it was announced by the Association of Victims and Witnesses of Genocide and the Association of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves. 

"We call on Minister Grubeša to stop misleading the public about the reasons for not adopting the strategy, but rather to read the international reports on the state of prosecution of war criminals and the state of the judiciary in BiH, from ICTY/MICT, the EU, OHR, OSCE, Reinhard Pribe to the conclusion of the Parliament of BiH, as well as the MICT report addressed to the UN Security Council on how Minister Grubeša released war criminal Marko Radić-Mako. It is precisely Minister Grubeša who obstructs amendments to the so-called Revised Strategy and thus prevents the prosecution of war criminals. We call on the Council of Ministers of BiH to urgently make a decision ordering Minister Grubeša to proceed with amendments to the so-called Revised Strategy in accordance with international reports and recommendations, and we call on the Prosecutor's Office of BiH to publicly announce the results of the Road Map of the Rome Agreement, which were submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH in 2004 for further jurisdiction as part of the victims' demands regarding the so-called Revised Strategy," the statement reads.
