UCI C1 race: Lejla Tanović wins bronze in Turkey

Balkan champion and nine-time national champion Lejla Tanović, a competitor for the professional SMF team, won a bronze medal at the UCI C1 race in Yalova (Turkey), while the victory went to Anoshina Ekaterina, the national champion of Russia. This is the third medal at highly ranked C1 races for Lejla, which are also the only medals for BiH, reports the Patria agency.

- The track was extremely physically demanding with several steep climbs that required the maximum from the riders every lap. In the first two laps, the difference between the competitors was very small, and Lejla was in fourth position. However, in the next lap, the other competitors could not keep up with the pace, and Lejla took third position, which she held until the end of the race. We are very satisfied with the form Lejla showed at the end of the season in very strong competition - said coach and national team selector Amar Njemčević.

By winning third place in the race, Tanović earned another 30 UCI points, which will lead to her advancement in the UCI rankings.

- I rode my own pace from the start because I knew the race would be physically demanding, and that turned out to be the best tactic. I am very happy with my performance in the race as well as the result, which shows that we trained well throughout the season. I am very motivated for the remaining competitions with which we will conclude this season - said Lejla Tanović.
