Frequent incidents in Neum: 'Gazi balije' on the display window of a shop owned by a Bosniak

(Patria) - Neum, the most popular summer resort in BiH and a place where a large number of seminars and symposiums of companies from all over our country are held in the winter months, has been covered with hate speech, as well as messages celebrating the Ustaše. This time, the target of fascist and nationalist insults was a restaurant owned by Jasmin Osmanović.

The restaurant owner told us that this is not the first time such incidents have occurred and that he has reported them to the police before, who have not yet apprehended any suspects, N1 reports.

“Neum is a small place where everyone knows everything, but nothing is done. People from outside have a lot of problems with the same group of people,” the owner told us.

The words “Gazi balije” were written on his restaurant's display window with spray paint, along with an offensive message referring to Sarajevo.

Also, Ustaše greetings and symbols were written on the walls in the parking lot in front of the restaurant.

This is not the first time such things have happened in Neum; hate speech, fights, and broken display windows severely damage the tourist image of the city, which is visited by an increasing number of tourists year after year, predominantly from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The competent police authorities have not taken any serious measures so far; this time, it is high time that the procedures for identifying and apprehending the perpetrators are carried out properly.

According to the statements of our interviewees, the same group of people has been causing disturbances for years.

The Neum Tourist Board should insist on preventing and punishing such incidents, which cause enormous damage to the BiH city on the Adriatic Sea.
