Secondary school students from Sarajevo Canton embark on a four-day study trip across BiH

(Patria) - Secondary school students from Sarajevo Canton set off this morning on a four-day study trip to central, northern and western Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of a special programme “Culture of Remembrance”.

On this occasion, a send-off was held in front of the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the students were addressed by Senada Salihović, Director of the Institute for the Development of Pre-University Education of Sarajevo Canton.

“We are pleased to support our students on their path to excellence. The aim of the study trip is to learn about the cultural, historical and natural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to develop and nurture a culture of remembrance and collective memory among the student population regarding the period of aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as its participation in the anti-fascist struggle during World War II, and significant historical figures from these periods. In addition, the goal is to preserve the diversity and pluralism of BiH, encourage dialogue, and objectively acquaint students with historical facts with the intention of building lasting peace and coexistence in these areas,” said Salihović.

The secondary schools whose students set off on the study trip today are: “Gimnazija Obala” Public Institution, “Richmond Park International Secondary School” International Grammar School, “Srednja Poslovna Škola” Private Institution in Ilidža, and “Persijsko-bosanski koledž sa internatom” Private Institution. In the first semester, 17 schools in Sarajevo Canton carried out the study trip.
