(Patria) - Today, February 14, on the 79th anniversary of the liberation of Mostar from fascism in World War II, it has been 20 months since the terrorist act committed by neo-fascists at the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar - a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The police are silent or briefly state: The investigation is ongoing. The Prosecutor's Office is also silent. The authorities are silent, states UABNOR Mostar.
"What resonates more and is more disturbing than the terrorist act itself, committed on June 14, 2021, is the silence, because this silence, which has lasted too long, is confirmation of approval, or rather complicity. If we put all this in the context of recent events surrounding the commemoration of the Day of Liberation, it is clear that there is a certain policy behind everything and that these are political decisions, and that the so-called 'juvenile hooligans' by the police and that same policy are well-instructed.
If we add to this the media reports close to the policy, which write with surprise that some partisan monuments still remain in Čapljina and Široki Brijeg and that they should be removed as soon as possible, it is clear what this is all about.
It is clear that an attack on the anti-fascist heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina is an attack on Bosnia and Herzegovina, because its statehood was restored precisely thanks to the anti-fascists, so if that heritage is destroyed, they think the state will also be destroyed more easily, because they dream of the one that was destroyed in 1945. That is why we demand, insist, and implore the Federal Police and state police agencies to urgently get involved in resolving these issues before it is too late.
Death to fascism - freedom to the people," states UABNOR Mostar.
