(Patria) - Even 18 months after a group of hooligans destroyed the Partisan Cemetery in Mostar, a national monument of BiH, investigative bodies have not identified the perpetrators.
"Even after a year and a half, there are still no developments in the investigation, and when asked about the progress of the investigation, the answer is still: The investigation is ongoing. And nothing more. It is clear to everyone that nothing will come of these kinds of investigations and that with the way such investigations are managed, the perpetrators will never be brought to justice. It gives the impression that this is the only goal, and such obstruction of the investigation and avoidance of prosecuting the perpetrators has only one name - complicity," stated UABNOR Mostar.
They state that from the beginning they have been saying that the destruction of the Partisan Memorial Cemetery and the failure to conduct an effective investigation is a political issue.
"We recall the day this act of terror occurred and the numerous visits to Mostar and promises of swift repair of the damage done. Almost nothing has been done about it, and time is passing. Given that budget planning is underway at all levels of government, this is an opportunity to realize some of the long-standing promises. Including the repair of the Partisan Memorial Cemetery in the budgets, from the city to the federal and state levels, is an opportunity to not treat all the promises made as politicking, populism, and hypocrisy, but to see a sincere intention to restore a National Monument to its original state. This example will clearly show the authorities' attitude towards the state itself.
Gentlemen, we no longer have patience, act or leave," concluded UABNOR Mostar.
