First commemorative event at UN Headquarters in New York on the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica

(Patria) - The Permanent Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the UN will organize the first official commemoration at the UN Headquarters in New York on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the genocide against Bosniaks in Srebrenica in 1995. The commemorative event is co-sponsored by the missions of 22 countries to the UN, including Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Austria, Canada, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Australia, Bangladesh, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Rwanda, Sweden, and Turkey.

Following the adoption of the resolution on the International Day of Commemoration and Remembrance of the Genocide by the UN General Assembly on May 23, which designates July 11 as the International Day of Remembrance of the Genocide in Srebrenica and condemns the denial of genocide and the glorification of war criminals, Ambassador Zlatko Lagumdžija organized this commemorative event.

The commemoration will be held in the General Assembly Hall of the UN Headquarters on July 11, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM local time (5:00 PM CET), with a live broadcast via UN TV, which you can access at the following link:
