Reforestation of the Ablakovina site in its final phase

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The reforestation project of the Ablakovina site in the municipality of Stari Grad is in its final phase. The project is worth 26,000 convertible marks, financed by the Embassy of Malaysia through Islamic Relief, a British international organization, and implemented with the support of the Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality and the company KJP „Sarajevo-šume“. On an area of 12,000 square meters, over 5,000 seedlings will be planted. Among the conifers, fir and spruce will be planted, and among the deciduous trees, black locust, ash, and maple.

On the occasion of the final phase of the project, and also on the occasion of Earth Day, representatives of Islamic Relief today, together with about 20 volunteers and students of the Elementary School „Al Amel“, organized a planting action.

The forest planting was carried out in agreement with the Cantonal Public Enterprise for the Management of State Forests "Sarajevo-šume", whose employees also participated in the work action and helped other participants with proper planting.

We recall that the first fir and spruce seedlings on Ablakovina were planted on March 13 this year by the Ambassador of Malaysia to BiH, H.E. Zakri Jaafar, the Chairman of the Stari Grad Municipal Council and his deputy Jusuf Pušina and Sanel Dragolovčanin, the Director of the Islamic Relief office in BiH, Semir Kukuruzović, the Director of KJP „Sarajevo-šume“, Nermin Demirović, and the Head of the Technical Service of KJKP “Vodovod i kanalizacija“, Amela Kadić.
