Construction of the building in Baruthana in its final phase

After signing the annex to the General Agreement on the method of implementing the project for the construction of a collective housing facility at the Baruthana site, in the middle of last month, work on its construction continued. The exterior of the building had already been completed, so interior work and the completion of water supply connections began. So far, floor and wall tiles, floors, and parquet have been installed in all apartments. Work on installing sanitary fixtures is nearing completion, as is painting. Electrical installations are finished, and pipes for the water supply network have been installed. Pressure control testing, water quality testing, and pipe flushing are underway before the final connection to the network, reports the Patria agency.

The residential building in Baruthana is intended for housing 11 internally displaced families from Stari Grad. The Stari Grad Municipality has been financing the costs of temporary accommodation for these families for many years, and with the construction of this building, their housing issue will be permanently resolved. According to Lejla Cerić, assistant to the mayor for housing, property-legal, geodetic affairs, and cadastre, the selection and verification of families to be moved into the building is underway.

- The building in Baruthana is now in its final phase and will be ready for occupancy by mid-September at the latest - Cerić said.

The Stari Grad Municipality began constructing the residential building for housing internally displaced families in Baruthana in January 2013. In addition to providing the land and necessary permits, the municipality financed all construction work on the building, partly with the help of the humanitarian organization "Hilfswerk Austria International," which is the project implementer.

The aforementioned annex to the General Agreement defines the financing of the continuation of work on the construction of the collective housing facility, for which 40,000 KM has been allocated from the budget of the Stari Grad Municipality, while the Ministry of Labor, Social Policy, Displaced Persons, and Refugees of the Sarajevo Canton will allocate 30,000 KM.
