No snake bites in Odžak in the last two days

The Odžak Health Center recently ran out of anti-snakebite serum after using up their stock of five doses, reports the Patria News Agency. However, thanks to good people, four serums were procured, and as confirmed by pharmacist Sanela Bajrić, there have been no new bites in the last two days.

- We expect to receive more serums next week, but I don't know the exact quantity. The situation is currently under control as there have been no new bites – Bajrić stated.

In addition to this serum, the Odžak Health Center also needs antitetanus vaccines, as people often get injured during clean-up operations in flooded areas. We remind you that the city center was not flooded, but the surrounding villages were, and a large number of people were evacuated from their homes.

After the water receded, there was a real surge of snakes, and in a short period, there were five bites, after which the Health Center ran out of serum. However, people have become more cautious since then, and the Public Health Institute has issued clear instructions to all citizens involved in the clean-up.

- When cleaning, wear waterproof gloves and rubber boots, and if water splashes during cleaning, also wear an apron, protective goggles, and a face mask, if possible.

- During cleaning, do not mix bleach and detergents, due to the risk of dangerous fumes.

- Do not let children play with contaminated toys. Toys should be washed in hot water (60 °C) with detergent.

- Clean all kitchen appliances and items from kitchen cabinets that have come into contact with floodwater.

- Wash all clothing contaminated with sewage (wastewater) individually in hot water (60 °C) with detergent.
