Thousands in Wuhan Celebrate New Year on the Streets

(Patria) - The Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the global coronavirus pandemic, did not miss out on a public New Year's celebration. Thousands of residents of this city welcomed 2021 on the streets.
A year ago, the pandemic that severely hit the entire world began in this city of several million people. Chinese authorities managed to bring the pandemic under control in Wuhan and the rest of the country with extremely restrictive measures.

The situation has since largely normalized, and a very small number of coronavirus infections are registered in this country - at least according to official government data.

Wuhan residents who decided to join the public New Year's Eve celebration stated that they are cautious but not worried about the presence of a large number of people on the streets, Reuters reports.

Unlike Wuhan, public New Year's Eve celebrations were canceled in many cities in China and around the world.
