Project "Living Healthy" launched at "Pčelica" kindergarten

The one-year project titled "Living Healthy" is currently being implemented at the "Pčelica" kindergarten, carried out by the "Generacija" Association. It involves program activities aimed at preventing deformities and improving the proper growth and development of children, raising awareness about healthy and proper nutrition, and encouraging children's functionality and social skills through creative workshops.

The president of the "Generacija" Association, Mahir Selmanović, explains that the project started in December last year and will last until December 2018. "All children from the "Pčelica" kindergarten are included in the project. There are two groups of 20 children each. Experts visit the kindergarten twice a week and work with the children," explains Selmanović. He added that a joint trip to nature is also planned for the near future.

Amela Ferizović, an educator at the "Pčelica" kindergarten, along with the children's parents, expressed great gratitude for the activities so far and the professional approach of all volunteers involved in this project.

"The advice and suggestions from the expert team of the 'Generacija' Association significantly help us educators in our direct work with children, and contribute to a higher quality improvement and preservation of children's health," stated Ferizović.

She said that the project clearly shows that the community has recognized the importance and significance of investing in the youngest population (children), and hopes that such projects will continue to receive support and understanding in the future.

"Once again, we thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts who has enriched and brightened our time at kindergarten through this project," said Ferizović.

The project "Living Healthy" is being implemented within the framework of the program "Regional Program for Local Democracy in the Western Balkans - ReLOaD", funded by the EU and implemented by UNDP in six countries of the region. Stari Grad is among the 21 municipalities in BiH where the "ReLOaD" program will be implemented over a three-year period, based on a successfully approved application prepared by the Sector for Local Development.
