Film screening 'Sarajevo Divan: The Journey of a Manuscript' on Tuesday

(Patria) - On the occasion of marking World Hafiz Shirazi Day, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, starting at 1:30 PM, in the Multimedia Hall of the Novi Grad Sarajevo Municipality, a screening of the film "Sarajevo Divan: The Journey of a Manuscript" will be held.

This is a documentary film, produced by the Gazi Husrev-beg Library and the Media Center of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which follows the fascinating journey of a unique manuscript of Hafiz's Divan, a masterpiece of invaluable worth kept in the Gazi Husrev-beg Library, sent for restoration to Iran.

This manuscript, enriched with extraordinary miniatures and calligraphy, is not only a literary but also an artistic work of supreme significance. After years of anticipation, the manuscript was finally sent for restoration, opening a new chapter in its rich history.

The film explores the cultural and artistic influence of Hafiz, one of the greatest poets of all time, whose verses have not only shaped Persian literature but have also inspired many world luminaries, such as Goethe and Emerson, as well as writers and authors from our region like Hasan Zijaija Mostarac, Derviš-paša Bajezidagić, Safet-beg Bašagić, Jovan Jovanović Zmaj, and others.

Hafiz's Divan symbolizes the universality of poetry that transcends borders and epochs, connecting East and West.
