Global debate on 5G, Branković claims 4G and 5G networks are not harmful

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The topic in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding testing and research on the harmfulness of introducing 4G and 5G networks was recently initiated by a delegate of the Croat People's Club in the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Zlatko Miletić, demanding that research on harmfulness be presented to the public.

He requested an answer as to whether telecommunication operators have conducted research on the endangerment of citizens' health when using communication services, in accordance with the Communications Law.

"Considering that the 4G network emits radiation from 900 to 2,100 megahertz, the 5G network will have radiation from one to four gigahertz. This means that in the future, our children will 'live' in microwave ovens," claims Miletić.

His claims align with increasingly widespread discussions in some Western European countries and the USA. Claims have appeared in the public that 5G networks, frequency spectra, have a negative effect on living organisms, and some go so far as to suggest that birds die from their radiation, children develop diabetes, and mortality has increased.
Furthermore, prompted by the postponement of 5G network implementation in Brussels, some political parties have even launched campaigns against 5G networks.

Research conducted in some countries has shown that every third child develops diabetes, coronary diseases are very common, an increased number of suicides is recorded, and other societal deviations are present that are closely related to the use of advanced technology.

What should concern all residents of BiH is the unclear answer from the Deputy Minister of Communications and Transport of BiH, Nedžad Branković (SDA), who, in an effort to defend the operators, focused his answer on the fact that operators are not obliged to conduct any research, but rather the Communications Regulatory Agency (RAK), which also adopted the Rule on the Limitation of Electromagnetic Radiation.

"When it comes to new technologies, the character of the radio signal used for electronic communications will not change; only capacities will be improved and energy efficiency enhanced, which means that 4G and subsequently 5G are introducing so-called small cells that radiate thousands of times less than those from the beginning of mobile communication introduction," said Branković.

Even eminent technology companies point out in their writings about 5G networks that it is completely irresponsible to claim that no danger exists.

But, apparently, that was not a problem for Branković.

Namely, by adding another 'layer' of infrastructure, the total amount of radiation increases, because we will have, at least in cities, four generations of antennas: 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G (the first generation has been out of service for some time), and home WiFi should not be overlooked either.

However, once 5G is operational, it is expected that operators will gradually shut down older generations, which is already partly happening.

The objective and easily provable danger from 5G networks lies in the increased total number of radiating antennas, not in the antennas themselves.

Therefore, Branković should know that policies in BiH must advocate for the phasing out of 2G, and even 3G antennas where they are no longer needed due to the high density of 3G, or 4G, and soon 5G antennas.

Advice to users

Users concerned about their health can consider reducing their mobile phone usage. Likewise, they could replace phone calls, during which the brain receives the largest amount of radiation, with texting.
