Promotion of the book 'Ahatovići 1990-1992. - First Heroes and Victims' in Sarajevo on Saturday

(Patria) - "Ahatovići 1990-1992. - First Heroes and Victims" is the title of the book by author Husein Mujkić, which will be promoted on Saturday, March 2, starting at 7 PM, in the multimedia hall of the Sarajevo municipality of Novi Grad.

This is an exceptionally well-conceived book that explores the key moments and personalities that shaped the period from 1990 to 1992 in Ahatovići, from the perspective of the first heroes and victims.

Author Husein Mujkić brings a deeply emotional and truthful story that sheds light on the courage and sacrifice of the people who marked these significant years through their deeds.

The book's promoters will be scholars and researchers: academician Ferid Muhić, Prof. Dr. Ermin Kuka, Dr. Ferid Dautović, and MSc Safet Kešo. Together with the author, they will share their insights and analyses of the events described in the book, providing a deeper understanding of the context and significance of this period.

This event will not only be a book promotion but also an opportunity for a collective remembrance of important events from the recent past.

The author's intention is for his book to serve as a bridge connecting generations and preserving the memories of the first heroes and victims of Ahatovići.

One of the reviewers will be Prof. Dr. Ermin Kuka, a senior research associate at the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo.

Kuka says that Mujkić's work is the result of years of meticulous scientific research and engagement with the subject matter. It was created based on conducted theoretical and empirical scientific research, with the research being predominantly empirical in nature.

The book contains a presentation of the theoretical-methodological framework of the scientific research, founded on the model of a scientific research project.

Ermin Kuka: Important historiographic material

A special part of the book is dedicated to empirical scientific research assessing attitudes towards cultivating a culture of remembrance and memory of the heroic struggle of Bosniaks, the mass killings of Bosniaks at the beginning of the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and an assessment of their readiness for any form of struggle to prevent the recurrence of such crimes in the future.

To this end, Kuka says, the author applied descriptive statistics, i.e., he performed a detailed descriptive statistical analysis, which is used in science to numerically and graphically present the collected data, with the aim of better understanding and clarity.

The research sample consisted of 106 respondents (living witnesses), which is approximately 65% of the total number of surviving residents of Ahatovići. The author obtained the data using the survey method, one of the most significant methods of data collection in scientific research.

Through this method, the author directly and simultaneously indirectly obtains data on the subject of his research. The survey technique was used, and the instrument was a questionnaire with pre-prepared questions.

The survey is linked to the statistical general scientific research method, characterized by systematicity, relative brevity, and cost-effectiveness. The author substantiated the determination of relevant and truthful historical facts precisely through the application of these general scientific methods.

The spatial scope of the research is the settlement of Ahatovići, and the temporal scope is the period from 1990 to 1995. Concluding considerations were derived based on statistical data processing, using a modern program for such processing (SPSS program).

Through such (statistical) data processing, the author built an essential statistical - quantitative and numerical basis for drawing conclusions about the entirety of the research subject.

"This book is an important historiographic material in which the events in the area of Ahatovići from 1990 until the declaration of a state of war and the formation of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina on April 15, 1992, are documented in detail.

The book presents and offers relevant and truthful scientific facts about the crimes committed against Bosniaks. This is of particular significance and importance, given that even after three decades, not a single criminal has been held accountable for the crimes committed in Ahatovići.

It is a devastating fact that there are no court verdicts for the crimes described and analyzed in detail in this book," Kuka stated in his review of Mujkić's book.
