In the Service for Common Affairs of BiH, the name of the institution is written incorrectly

(Patria) - It is not uncommon for civil servants, elected representatives, and high officials in BiH to not know foreign languages, but to incorrectly write the names of these institutions in official documents on letterheads has crossed every limit, warned the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH.

Namely, Damir Arnaut, a deputy in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, sent a parliamentary question to Meliha Jahjaefendić, director of the Service for Common Affairs of the Institutions of BiH, in which he warns of a series of errors he noticed on the letterhead of this institution.

"First of all, the word 'affairs' is written with one 'r', not with two as stated in your letterhead 'affairrs'. Also, the term 'service' in English is stated in your letterhead in the plural 'services', instead of the singular 'service'. Finally, the grammatical terms 'of' and 'the' are missing," Arnaut stated in the letter.

In short, the correct name in English would be Service for Common Affairs of the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina instead of "Services for common affairrs institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina".

"Considering that you regularly sign this letterhead, as you have been performing this function for many years, and that an error of this nature can in no way be the responsibility of a lower-ranking official but exclusively of the institution's management, I ask you to answer whether you have ever noticed these errors before, and whether you have knowledge of English or another foreign language," Arnaut asked Jahjaefendić.

The deputy also requested that information be provided on whether this letterhead has been sent to foreign embassies or international institutions in BiH in the past two years.
