Final year students return to school, masks mandatory

SARAJevo, (Patria) - On Monday, February 8, 9th grade elementary school students, as well as third year of three-year and fourth year of four-year high schools in the Sarajevo Canton will return to school desks.

As stated by the Minister of Education and Upbringing of SC Naida Hota-Muminović, classes will be conducted with strict adherence to epidemiological measures.

"The instructions for conducting classes have been refined, with input from the SC Parents' Association, and we have improved them. All instructions are subject to constant changes in accordance with the epidemiological situation," the minister said.

Minister of Health of SC Haris Vranić said that they will monitor the epidemiological situation and adapt the measures accordingly.

"The most frequent question was whether children should wear masks from the age of 6. We are of the opinion and have made such a decision, referring to WHO standards, that wearing a mask is mandatory during stay in school premises. We have also prepared rapid tests, and an epidemiological survey of teaching staff will be conducted before the start of classes. All those who show any signs of COVID are obliged both legally and morally to report it so that we can test potentially positive patients, and to exclude the possibility that any teacher might spread the infection," said Vranić.
