Solidarity rally for Palestinian prisoners in Sarajevo on Saturday: Stop the normalization of systemic violence

(Patria) - The Palestinian community in Bosnia and Herzegovina has announced that a solidarity rally will be held in Sarajevo on Saturday regarding the adoption of a law that allows for the imposition of the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

This rally, which will be held on the occasion of April 17th, Palestinian Prisoners' Solidarity Day, represents a clear and unambiguous response to the institutionalization of violence through legislative frameworks that legitimize death sentences against the occupied population.

The Palestinian community in BiH emphasizes that this is a move that causes deep concern in the context of international humanitarian law and basic human rights.



Palestinian Prisoners' Solidarity Day recalls the long-standing practice of mass arrests, detention without trial, and systemic repression, which is further deepened by these legislative proposals.

"We call on citizens to express solidarity with Palestinian prisoners with their presence and send a clear message against practices that represent an escalation of repression and legally sanctioned violence.

From Sarajevo, a city that carries the experience of siege and systemic violence, we send a message that the normalization of such policies cannot and must not go unanswered," said the organizers.

They specified that during the rally, only Palestinian and Bosnian and Herzegovinian flags are allowed to be carried and displayed, as well as posters that clearly and with dignity point to the situation of Palestinian prisoners.

The solidarity rally for Palestinian prisoners will be held on Saturday, April 18th, in Veliki park - in front of the Monument to the Murdered Children of Sarajevo, starting at 2:00 PM.
