Thieves stopped in Sarajevo: Only packaging on shelves, products at the cashier

Sarajevo retailers are increasingly forced to keep more expensive articles and exclusive brands near the cashier or in the warehouse, as thieves steal them from the shelves.

So, do not be surprised if on the shelf in a supermarket you find only the packaging of an exclusive product, with a note that the item is with the retailer at the cashier.

- Canned fish, goulash, and more expensive spreads are being stolen - a retailer in one of Sarajevo's retail chains told the Patria agency, adding that it is very difficult to monitor everyone who enters the store, and among the customers there are often thieves who steal products.

- Retailers are responsible for the goods to the store owners. If the goods spoil, or if someone even steals them, we most often have to cover it from our salaries. That is why we constantly have to find solutions to protect the goods - says this retailer, who wished to remain anonymous.

Cameras or physical security are clearly not helping enough, so retailers are forced to look for other ways to protect products on the shelves.
