Haris Silajdžić's poetry collection 'Visovi u magli' promoted in Sarajevo

(Patria) - Humanity cannot exist without meaning, it cannot live in one way because man is not a negative and intense machine, said Dr. Haris Silajdžić tonight at the promotion of his second poetry collection "Visovi u magli" (Peaks in the Fog).

Speaking about the motives for writing his poetry, he emphasized that only through it can he express certain things.

- I am worried about humanity and poetry, but I believe that art will ultimately prevail. I fear for humanity because of the moment we live in, where artificial intelligence has taken precedence - said Silajdžić, as reported by Preporod.info.

He pointed out that artificial intelligence can accelerate information, but also reduce words and meaning.

- Nature knows no leaps, because water flows its course, never accelerating, while man does exactly that, he accelerates his existence - emphasized Silajdžić.

The promotion of the poetry collection "Visovi u magli" was held at the Museum of Literature and Theatre Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the publishing house "Dobra knjiga".



According to the organizers, this is the second collection of writings by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of RBiH and Chairman of the Presidency, after his debut work "Sarječje" was presented 11 years ago.

- Haris Silajdžić never says he was a politician, but that he was in the service of his country at a given moment. His second dimension, the poetic one, is little known to us, but certainly fascinating - said Izedin Šikalo, the moderator of this evening's promotion, in a statement to the media.

He emphasized that Silajdžić skillfully writes verses that can be classified as philosophical lyrics.

- It is thoughtful and very concise poetry, it speaks of time which is not a concept in physics. It is not time that flows, but time that is backward, that stands still, and that is behind us. We are happy that this book was published by our house - added Šikalo.

One of the promoters was Nermin Ormanović from the City Library of Zenica. He described Haris Silajdžić's work as a kind of sum of several books.

- It is quite large in volume for a poetry collection. It contains several cycles that differ thematically and ideologically, sometimes even in style, but they share a common note - emphasized Ormanović.

He also added that the main theme of the entire collection is memory and duration, emphasizing that it actually reveals what lies behind the basic concept of memory.

- Here, the lyrical subject tries to describe the beginning and what lies behind memory, words, and concepts in a simple way. We can say that this collection, although it deals with complex themes, is quite simple and not hermetic - stated Ormanović.

Academician Prof. Dr. Enes Karić said during the promotion that Silajdžić is a poet by his work.

- He follows the Persian proverb - if you want to be a good poet - read poetry. I warmly recommend this work by Silajdžić to all readers and lovers of beautiful words. It is a summary of Sufism in poetry and eternal philosophy - were Karić's words.

The author Dr. Haris Silajdžić, Academician Prof. Dr. Enes Karić, Prof. Dr. Orhan Bajraktarević, Milo Ščekić, and Nermin Ormanović spoke about the book. The promotion was moderated by Izedin Šikalo.
