Professor of the Faculty of Economics Stiepo Andrijić passed away in Sarajevo

(Patria) - Professor Emeritus and academician Stiepo Andrijić passed away in Sarajevo. He was born in 1944 in Gora, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prof. Dr. Stiepo Andrijić completed his undergraduate studies (1967) at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, and his master's studies (1973) at the Institute of Economic Sciences in Belgrade.

He defended his doctoral dissertation at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo (1975) on the topic "Loan Conversion and its Financial-Mathematical Effects".

From 1969, when he was engaged as an assistant, through his appointment as an associate professor in 1975 immediately after defending his doctorate, to 1985 when he was appointed full professor, he dedicatedly worked for students at the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo, striving to impart his knowledge and experience in the field of quantitative economics. He continued this after being appointed full professor - it was announced, among other things, from the Faculty of Economics in Sarajevo.

During his work at EFSA, Prof. Dr. Andrijić held various positions and the position of Dean in the period 1987-1989.

He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the City of Sarajevo Award in 1989 for his significant scientific contribution in the field of quantitative economics and distinguished teaching at the University; the International Charter of Humanists in 1986; the Order of Labor with a Golden Wreath in 1985 "for special merits and achieved successes in work".

In his work, he was dedicated to social engagement, among which we highlight: the first governor of the National Bank of BiH; minister in the first Government of FBiH; member of the Management Board of the Fund for Scientific-Research Work of BiH; member of the Commission for Economic Policy and Development of the Government of BiH; member of the Committee for Economic Sciences of the Department of Social Sciences of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of BiH, founder and president of the Society of Actuaries in FBiH.

He was the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications. Professor Dr. Andrijić will forever remain in the memory of the employees of the Faculty of Economics, his colleagues, and generations of students to whom he selflessly imparted knowledge, the Faculty of Economics Sarajevo announced.

A memorial service for Professor Dr. Andrijić will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, starting at 12:00 PM, in the Session Hall, and the final farewell will also take place on the same day at the "Sv. Josip" cemetery in Sarajevo at 2:45 PM.

Professor Dr. Andrijić will forever remain in the memory of the employees of the Faculty of Economics, his colleagues, and generations of students to whom he selflessly imparted knowledge.
