Monograph 'Srebrenica - Potočari 1995–2025: Srebrenica Prayer' presented in Sarajevo

(Patria) - The Monograph "Srebrenica - Potočari 1995-2025: Srebrenica Prayer" was presented tonight at the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, organized by the Vesatijja Center for Dialogue.

With texts, documents, and a unique artistic vision, the Monograph summarizes three decades of living memory of the genocide committed against Bosniaks in July 1995 in Srebrenica.

At the same time, it is a reflection of the multi-decade testimony, spiritual articulation, and social engagement of the Islamic Community in confronting the consequences of the genocide.



Through prayers, messages, and speeches by the former Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH, Mustafa Cerić, as well as resolutions, messages, letters, and khutbahs dedicated to Srebrenica, the Monograph documents both the institutional response and the human need for truth and justice, the Islamic Community in BiH stated.

The Monograph gains a unique dimension from the exclusive illustrations by academician Mehmed Akšamija, which have not been shown to the public before.

The promoter, academician Mehmed Akšamija, the editor Dr. Ekrem Tucaković, as well as the director of the Vesatijja Center and publisher Dr. Senad Ćeman, and the current Reis-ul-ulema Husein ef. Kavazović and the president of the Association "Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Žepa" Munira Subašić particularly emphasized the dimension of this work – the truth about Srebrenica, which remains for future generations to see.



The Monograph originated from a deep human need for truth and justice; it is much more than a publication, it is a prayer turned into a book, a spiritual shield of truth, and an expression of the Islamic response to injustice, while the messages of the text form an impressive whole of pain, suffering, injustice, hypocrisy, and the betrayed promise of the international community, it was said during the promotion.

The promotion of the Monograph was carefully timed to coincide with the obligations that the members of the "Mothers of Srebrenica" Association have regarding the commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the genocide in which their children, husbands, brothers, relatives, and neighbors perished, among thousands of other men murdered in the greatest crime committed on European soil after World War II.
