Economic Forum of BiH Starts in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Jasmina Selimović, opened the fourth Economic Forum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo today.

"This is the fourth time the Faculty of Economics is gathering leading experts in the field of economics, as well as business. The mission of the Forum is to bring together relevant participants from the business community, representatives of the executive and legislative authorities, and the academic community, with the aim of finding concrete proposals and solutions for Bosnia and Herzegovina and improving its position in the region," said Dean Selimović.

In their opening remarks, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija, and the Head of the European Union Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Johann Sattler, addressed the attendees.

"This is an event that will result in conclusions that will primarily help those in Bosnia and Herzegovina who make key policies, so that they are more successful and so that economic growth in BiH is higher than it is at the moment," emphasized the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, while Johann Sattler specifically addressed the issue of youth emigration from Bosnia and Herzegovina, in search of quality education, security, and employment.

The Economic Forum of BiH, organized by the Faculty of Economics at the University of Sarajevo and the Economics Institute Sarajevo, represents a platform for meeting and dialogue between the executive authorities, the business and academic communities, with the aim of shaping an attractive business environment.

The focus of this year's Forum is also on creating prerequisites for the development of a regional network for the promotion of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the global network (Sustainable Development Solutions Network – SDSN).

The program of the Economic Forum of BiH 2020 is structured into two panel sessions: 1. SDGs AND WESTERN BALKANS 2030 – NEW NARRATIVE 2. WESTERN BALKANS 4.0: GROWING DIGITAL TOGETHER (IMPACT ON THE BANKING SECTOR).
