Free skin cancer screening campaign for youth and suspicious lesions begins in Sarajevo

(Patria) - Skin cancer is one of the most aggressive cancers in human pathology, but with timely diagnosis, it is easily treatable.

If not recognized at an early stage, it quickly metastasizes throughout the body. Therefore, regular check-ups with a dermatovenereologist are crucial for a complete picture of skin changes.

As part of this year's public health and humanitarian campaign Euromelanoma, free screenings of moles and lesions suspicious for cancer will be conducted in May and June in 26 cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as in 48 public and private healthcare institutions.

In Sarajevo, a group of dermatologists will perform free screenings at the following locations:

The leading group for raising awareness about skin cancer, Euromelanoma, has named this year's campaign "Live and Learn + Learn to Live" to promote physical and psychological support for skin cancer patients after diagnosis.

The campaign was launched in European countries in May this year, which is highlighted as Malignant Melanoma Awareness Month. Bosnia and Herzegovina is no exception, where the campaign is led by the president of Euromelanoma BiH - Dr. Hana Helppikangas, with the support and under the patronage of the Ministry of Health of Sarajevo Canton.
