Muslim-Jewish Conference Opened in Sarajevo

A Muslim-Jewish Conference opened tonight in Sarajevo's City Hall, bringing together 100 young people from nearly 40 countries worldwide, aiming to build friendships, break stereotypes, and foster cooperation among young Jews and Muslims.

The gathering will discuss issues and topics on which they can work together to improve relations and achieve common progress.

The conference is held under the patronage of the Chairman of the Presidency Bakir Izetbegović and with the support of the Islamic and Jewish communities in BiH, the OSCE, and the American University in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The President of the Jewish Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jakob Finci, stated that this is the second time a Muslim-Jewish Conference is being held in Sarajevo.

The Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, said that religious communities bring together a number of peoples and send messages to re-strengthen coexistence and cooperation among peoples.

The Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH, Jonathan Moore, said that they are sponsors of this event because they recognize the positive role that religious communities play in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
