(Pattria) - Organized by the Association of Demobilized Fighters Gras, the 7th memorial tournament 'Ramo Biber' was held yesterday in the Olympic Hall 'Ramiz Salčin' in Mojmilo, dedicated to the numerous defenders of this company.
The tournament symbolically bears the name of the first victim of the siege of Sarajevo, Ramo Biber, who was killed on March 2, 1992. The Minister for Veterans' Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, Omer Osmanović, yesterday in the hall in Mojmilo once again expressed support for such sports events, and stated that it is our constant obligation to remember our bravest sons.
"The name Ramo Biber is not just a memory, but a permanent warning and an obligation to preserve the truth. As one of the first symbols of suffering at the beginning of the aggression against Sarajevo, he left a deep mark in our collective memory. I believe that such tournaments have a special strength, to connect people through sport, but also to worthily pass on the memory of his sacrifice to the generations to come," emphasized Minister Osmanović.
Ramo Biber was an employee of the Sarajevo Public Transport Company, to which the cable car also belonged. He worked for 20 years and died at the age of 42. Shortly after his death, the Trebević Cable Car was also devastated, and 26 years later it was solemnly restored and named after the late Ramo. His fate remained a permanent reminder of the time when innocent people suffered just because they worked and lived their daily lives. Precisely because of this, his name today carries a special weight and an obligation never to be forgotten," announced the KS Press Service.
