National Day of the State of Qatar Celebrated in Sarajevo

(Patria) - In the presence of numerous guests from political, social, religious, sports, cultural, and public life of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the diplomatic corps, tonight at the Hotel Hills in Ilidža, the National Day of the State of Qatar was celebrated.

It is significant to emphasize that this year's National Day is being celebrated in the year when the State of Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina mark the 31st anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations.

The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Meshaal bin Ali al-Attiyah, emphasized on this occasion that the State of Qatar attaches great importance to Bosnia and Herzegovina because it has built strong relations of friendship and brotherhood with it since its independence to this day.



- The State of Qatar also strives to increase the volume and diversity of economic cooperation with Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to increase trade volume, and many Bosnian companies have begun to enter the Qatari market, which will significantly contribute to increasing the rapprochement between the two countries and encouraging investors interested in exploring promising investment markets in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We will work on realizing high-level political and economic delegation visits between the two countries to achieve this goal - stated Ambassador Al-Attiyah, extending a welcome to the guests.

Friendly relations have been strengthened by the signing of many bilateral agreements and cooperation protocols between the two countries, as well as the exchange of official visits by high-level officials from both countries.

- The mutual connection between the two countries has also become evident through the arrival of numerous Qatari tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has become their favorite tourist destination. We will work to increase cultural and educational cooperation and improve bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the coming years to strengthen the friendly relations we strive for - he said.

Ambassador Al-Attiyah also reminded that the State of Qatar, over the past five decades, has succeeded in initiating the construction of a modern state through stability, economic development, and infrastructure development, establishing a policy of openness to the outside world, strengthening relations with Arab, Islamic, and international environments, and achieving first places globally in many fields.

- The foreign policy of the State of Qatar is based on fundamental constants and stable principles that achieve our national goals and interests, fulfill our obligations and effective partnership with the international community in facing global challenges, as well as on political realism and a realistic assessment of what we can do.

We follow the approach of dialogue and preventive diplomacy and support consensus-based political solutions and the peaceful resolution of conflicts - concluded Ambassador Al-Attiyah.



Qatar National Day is a national celebration of the unification of Qatar in 1878, celebrated every year on December 18th in memory of the founder, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed al-Thani, a Qatari ruler and great visionary who laid the foundations of a strong and successful Gulf Arab state by uniting Arab tribes.

The holiday was established on June 21, 2007, by decree of the current Emir of the State of Qatar, and then Crown Prince and Heir Apparent, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. It is also known as Founder's Day.

The State of Qatar, which gained independence in 1971, is among the richest and safest countries in the world.

Under the leadership of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the State of Qatar has witnessed enormous growth at the local, regional, and international levels over the past decade.
