Inclusive Day Marked in Sarajevo: We All Laugh, But Differently

With a ceremonial program by students of the Hadžići Secondary School Center held at the Sarajevo Children's Square, as part of a joint project of the European Union and the Council of Europe titled "Regional Support for Inclusive Education" in Southeast Europe, Inclusive Day was marked, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Simultaneously, in addition to Sarajevo, a similar event aimed at raising public awareness about inclusive education was held in Tirana, Pristina, Skopje, Podgorica, Belgrade, and Zagreb under the motto "We All Laugh, But Differently".

The Hadžići Secondary School Center is one of 49 schools from 48 cities selected to be pilot schools for this regional program, jointly supported by the European Union and the Council of Europe.

After three years of experience in implementing inclusive education, i.e., including all children in the educational process, the children today proved with their program that this type of education is a prerequisite for an inclusive society and that it is possible in practice.

- We hope that our positive experience will serve as an example for other schools and create a prerequisite for supporting policy creation in introducing inclusive education into the regular educational process - stated Misim Gegić, director of this educational institution, emphasizing the importance this project had for forming a network of schools and teachers who, through study trips and seminars, exchanged experiences with their colleagues not only from our region but also from some Western European countries.

To the citizens of Sarajevo, the students of the Hadžići Secondary School Center presented themselves with musical and dance numbers, including a performance by the Cultural and Artistic Society from Hadžići, a monologue, and a recital titled "Find Time to Be Happy".
