(Patria) - An exhibition dedicated to his life, struggle, and legacy will be opened today at the Tunnel D-B memorial complex - on the day of Safet Hadžić's death.
The exhibition will be available to visitors throughout the day during the Tunnel's working hours, and next week students will also be able to view it as part of the Educational Center program of the Sarajevo Memorial Center.
Safet Hadžić was born in 1952 in the Sarajevo settlement of Hrasno. He was a man of the people - modest, determined, and extremely respected among his comrades and fellow citizens.
In the early days of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, Safet made himself available for the city's defense, becoming one of the first organizers of resistance in the Novi Grad municipality of Sarajevo.
Known for his bravery, but also for the humanity he maintained in the most difficult moments, Safet Hadžić made an immeasurable contribution to the formation of defense lines and the motivation of fighters who, inspired by his example, offered strong resistance to a superior enemy.
He died on April 18, 1992, at the very beginning of the war, leaving behind a strong message of struggle for freedom, dignity, and life.
For his exceptional bravery and sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Golden Lily recognition, as well as the Order of the Hero of the Liberation War, which places him among the most deserving defenders of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His name is borne by streets, schools, and sports clubs today. His image remains a symbol of determination and the spirit of resistance that marked Sarajevo and the entire country in the most difficult times.
The exhibition is an opportunity to remember not only his merits and the values he embodied - solidarity, responsibility, and courage, it was announced from the Sarajevo Memorial Center.
