Scientific gathering in Sarajevo today on the Declaration of the 'All-Serbian Assembly' and the challenges it poses to BiH's sovereignty

(Patria) - A scientific gathering titled "Instrumentalization and Politicization of National Rights: The Declaration of the 'All-Serbian Assembly' as a continuation of Greater Serbia policy" will be held today at the University of Sarajevo Rectorate, starting at 4 PM.

The organizer - the Institute for Research of Crimes Against Humanity and International Law of the University of Sarajevo - aims with this gathering to consider the challenges that the Declaration of the 'All-Serbian Assembly' poses to the sovereignty of BiH and, through scientific analysis, to offer concrete recommendations for responding to state, regional, and international challenges.

The Declaration of the 'All-Serbian Assembly' represents a continuation of Greater Serbia policy that does not recognize the independence and sovereignty of BiH. With this act, Serbia not only creates the foreign policy of Bosnia and Herzegovina through the smaller BiH entity, but also directly violates international law and the sovereignty of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This continues anti-Dayton actions.

The institutionalization of the concept of the "Serbian world" is aimed at creating a homogeneous space through identity equalization, with symbolic, cultural, and educational elements playing a key role, as well as the energy and transport sectors, where through institutional and infrastructural connectivity, an attempt is made to further homogenize the space of Serbia and the smaller BiH entity of RS.



The Declaration implies the realization of "strategic goals" defined and largely realized during the 1990s, now through "peaceful" methods. What is concerning is the fact that certain aspects of these goals are already being implemented, including those that are not transparent to the general public.

A particular challenge is the support of Russian officials in the organization and promotion of the Declaration, which further strengthens Russia's geopolitical influence in the region, with consequences for the stability and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

What does such a development mean for Bosnia and Herzegovina? What is the response of the state institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards the Republic of Serbia? Is there a strategy to counter these processes? Does Bosnia and Herzegovina even have a defined relationship with Serbia, or are we leaving the initiative to the other side?

This gathering must serve as the beginning of a serious debate and long-term planning in order to protect the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the regional and international stage.

After introductory presentations, the gathering will open the possibility for discussion through three panels:

- The Declaration in the historical, global, and regional context;

- Analysis of legal decisions and political implications of the Declaration; and

- Discussion on culture, identity, and symbols - the role of the Declaration in shaping Serbian policy.
