(Patria) - A memorial plaque to Azra Spahić and Alma Suljić, young doctors tragically killed in an accident at Marijin Dvor in Sarajevo last year, will be unveiled in Sarajevo tomorrow, the City of Sarajevo announced.
The Mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karić, will lay flowers and pay tribute to the tragically lost Sarajevo youth at 1:30 PM, together with their families, friends, and colleagues.
"There are lives that are short-lived, yet leave and give so much more...", reads the inscription on the memorial plaque erected by the City of Sarajevo in memory of two tragically extinguished lives.
Azra Spahić and Alma Suljić tragically died in an accident on May 26, 2023, in Sarajevo. Both doctors were highly successful students, doctors, and activists in society.
The accused, Armin Berberović, against whom legal proceedings are underway, hit three pedestrians with his car at a crosswalk in the Marijin Dvor neighborhood.
On that occasion, he killed one of them – Azra Spahić, a young doctor, at the scene, and seriously injured her friend Alma Suljić, who died after nearly a month of fighting for her life. Their third friend, E.S., sustained minor injuries.
