198 new infections in Sarajevo, one person died

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to the data of the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton, in the past day, 198 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in the Sarajevo Canton, after laboratory testing of 1,164 samples. In the same period, 168 people recovered. One person died as a result of this infection.

Currently, 151 patients are hospitalized, of which 138 have an acute infection, while the others are post-COVID or under observation/triage.

The share of vaccinated persons among the hospitalized is 13.25 percent.

At the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, 76 patients are being treated, and at the General Hospital “Prim.dr. Abdulah Nakaš” 75. Eight people are on respirators, and 16 patients are using non-invasive ventilation. Ten patients are on oxygen support.

The Sarajevo Canton today records 1,530 active cases of COVID-19 infection. Currently, 2,542 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 64,733 people infected with coronavirus have been registered in the Sarajevo Canton, and 61,694 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected is 154, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants, is 256," according to the data of the Institute for Public Health of the Sarajevo Canton.

In the COVID clinics of the Public Institution Health Center of the Sarajevo Canton, 404 patients were examined, of which seven were transported for hospital treatment. At drive-in points and COVID clinics, 992 PCR swabs were taken. Drive-in points at Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac work every day from 07:30 to 20:00 hours.

The COVID call center recorded 522 calls, and 231 conversations with patients were conducted via telephone numbers in the COVID clinics.

During the past day, a total of 688 doses of vaccines were administered in the health centers of the Sarajevo Canton.

The Ministry of Health of the Sarajevo Canton once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated in order to preserve their own health and the health of those around them. The Ministry and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and call on them to continue to respect all prescribed hygiene and epidemiological measures.
