Sarajevo: 158 New Infections, Five Deaths

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - According to data from the KS Public Health Institute, 158 new cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Sarajevo Canton yesterday, after 1,048 samples were laboratory tested. In the same period, 108 people recovered from Covid-19 infection.

Unfortunately, five patients died as a result of this disease.

Currently, 140 patients are hospitalized, of whom 126 have acute infections, while the others are post-Covid or are under observation/triage.

The proportion of vaccinated people among hospitalized patients is 18.57 percent.

At the University Clinical Center Sarajevo, 80 patients are being treated, and at the General Hospital “Prim. dr. Abdulah Nakaš”, 60 are being treated. Eight people are on ventilators, and 12 patients are using non-invasive ventilation. Ten patients are on oxygen support.

Sarajevo Canton currently records 1,579 active cases of Covid-19 infection. Currently, 2,468 people are in self-isolation. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Sarajevo Canton, a total of 66,126 people have been infected with coronavirus, and 63,002 have recovered.

"In the past seven days, the average number of infected people has been 133, while the weekly incidence, i.e., the number of sick people per 100,000 inhabitants, is 221," according to data from the KS Public Health Institute.

In the Covid-outpatient clinics of the Public Institution Health Center KS, 345 patients were examined, of whom four were transported to hospital for treatment.

A total of 649 PCR swabs were taken at drive-in points and in Covid-outpatient clinics. Drive-in points in Vrbanja, Ilidža, and Semizovac operate every day from 07:30 to 20:00.

The Covid-call center recorded 533 calls, and 238 conversations with patients were conducted via phone numbers in the Covid-outpatient clinics.

During the past day, a total of 923 doses of vaccines were administered in the health centers in KS.

The Ministry of Health KS once again calls on citizens to get vaccinated to protect their health and the health of those around them. This ministry and health institutions thank citizens for their cooperation and urge them to continue to respect all prescribed hygienic-epidemiological measures.
