Renowned Professor from Norway Visiting Sarajevo General Hospital

(Patria) - Prof. Dr. Edin Alagić, a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, who lives and works in Oslo, during this week's three-day visit to the General Hospital "Prim. Dr. Abdulah Nakaš", along with colleagues from the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, is performing surgical procedures at this healthcare institution using the most modern minimally invasive method - laparoscopy. It is planned that the joint medical team will operate on 15 patients in this manner.

Prof. Alagić, a distinguished specialist of Bosnian origin, previously held a series of lectures for the doctors of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and this education has continued with joint practical work in the operating room.

The renowned guest, on this occasion as well, gave the highest marks for the organization of work at the General Hospital, and particularly praised the work in the operating room and the professionalism of the medical staff, including gynecologists, anesthesiologists, anesthetists, instrument technicians, and nurses.

Laparoscopy is a minimally invasive surgical procedure. Compared to classic laparotomy, the advantages of laparoscopy are a short hospital stay (one or two days, depending on the extent of the surgical procedure) and a very rapid recovery and return of the patient to normal activities.
