First plane with BiH citizens from the Middle East lands in Sarajevo

(Patria) - The first plane with citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina evacuated from the Middle East landed tonight after 8 PM at Sarajevo International Airport.

These are 156 BiH citizens who remained in transit in the United Arab Emirates in the past few days. They successfully returned to their homeland by plane from Dubai.



At the airport, they were eagerly awaited by family members and friends, and as you can see in the photos taken by our photojournalist, after days of uncertainty, there were tears, hugs, and smiles.

Let us remind you that the Council of Ministers of BiH unanimously adopted today a Decision approving 800,000 KM from the current reserve of the budget of institutions and international obligations of BiH for the evacuation of BiH citizens from endangered areas of the Middle East in order to protect their lives.

The funds are intended for the urgent organization of transportation for BiH citizens who are currently in the countries of the Middle East, based on the available records of BiH diplomatic-consular missions in this region.



As the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, Elmedin Konaković, stated today, pregnant women, children, mothers with small children, and the elderly will have absolute priority during boarding.

According to data from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH, there are almost 2,000 BiH citizens in the crisis region.

Of these, about a thousand are in the United Arab Emirates, more than 500 in Qatar, and about a hundred in Kuwait, with smaller groups in Bahrain and Oman.
