RS Gendarmerie Unit Parade

(Patria) - The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska is organizing a ceremonial parade of the Gendarmerie Unit today, September 24, 2019, at 12:00 PM at the Training Center in Zalužani, near Banja Luka, the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

"In this way, a new organizational unit of the Ministry will be officially presented, which has been formed with the aim of improving the security of Republika Srpska, its citizens, and property. The promotion will be attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Dragan Lukač, Police Director Darko Ćulum, and the highest representatives of the executive and legislative authorities of Republika Srpska," the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

Otherwise, after strong reactions from international circles, RS abandoned the formation of a reserve police force, but called it the Gendarmerie. Many assessed that the formation of the gendarmerie from regular police officers, whose numbers would increase, could be a more dangerous idea than a reserve force, considering the operational capability, training, and equipment of such a unit.
