Vehicle with a body of one person found in the Sava River

(Patria) - The Federal Administration of Civil Protection (FUCZ) responded to the request of the KUCZ of Posavina Canton for the engagement of FUCZ teams and this morning (February 12, 2020) sent members of the underwater rescue unit with necessary equipment to search for a missing person suspected to have driven their vehicle into the Sava River in the area of the Vidovice local community in the Orašje municipality.

Members of the criminal police sector, Orašje Investigation Department, had previously arrived at the scene and, upon checking the mentioned location, found traces indicating the possibility of the vehicle sliding into the Sava River.

Upon arrival at the site and after gathering information, six divers, members of the underwater rescue unit, dove at the determined location. Although visibility was very poor, the divers found the car immediately after the first dive, which was pulled out of the Sava River onto the shore with the help of heavy machinery provided by the local community. After the vehicle was pulled out of the river onto the shore at 5:30 PM, it was established that it contained the body of one person, and investigative actions will determine whether this is the person who was being searched for.

The vehicle was found ten meters from the shore, at a depth of five meters, and twenty meters downstream from the spot where it left the road and entered the Sava River. At the scene, besides members of the FUCZ and the PU criminal police sector, Orašje Investigation Department, there were also members of the Orašje Police Station who secured the location where the search and vehicle extraction took place.
