Contractor Introduced for Insulation Project at First Gymnasium in Zenica

(Patria) - A contractor was officially introduced today at the First Gymnasium in Zenica for the project of insulating and energy rehabilitation of the school building, marking the official start of an investment jointly financed by the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDC) and UNDP.

The introduction of the contractor followed previous activities carried out as part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the First Gymnasium in Zenica, and the signing of a contract securing a total of 372,375 KM for the complete external renovation - 238,773 KM financed by the ZDC Government, and 133,602 KM by UNDP.

Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of ZDC Mirza Mušija emphasized that the start of works represents another important step in improving conditions for students and teachers.



- The First Gymnasium is one of the oldest and most significant secondary education institutions in our canton. The building now awaits works that will give it a new, more energy-efficient appearance, and provide students and teachers with better conditions.

This school has for decades produced generations that have marked science, culture, education and public life, not only in Zenica but throughout BiH. Our task is to preserve and develop such institutions - said Mušija.

The minister added that energy efficiency projects remain a priority of the relevant ministry.

The First Gymnasium, founded in 1945, through its long tradition has produced numerous distinguished experts, scientists, artists and intellectuals, and remains one of the most important symbols of education in ZDC.
