In the first six months, not a single positive population growth was recorded in FBiH

In the first six months of 2016, not a single positive population growth was recorded in FBiH. The number of deaths was far greater than the number of births for all six months of this year, writes Patria.

The Federal Institute of Statistics published data showing that from January to June this year, 8,541 children were born in FBiH, and 10,444 people died. Therefore, the number of deaths is 1,903 higher than the number of births. Given that a large number of young people leave BiH annually due to the difficult economic situation in the country, it is clear that the population of Bosnia and Herzegovina is constantly declining.

According to the census published on June 30 this year, 3,531,159 inhabitants live in BiH. 62.85 percent live in FBiH, 34 percent in RS, and 2.37 percent in Brčko, writes Patria.
