Newly built A transversal opened: Faster from the Airport to the city center

Today, the A transversal, from Sarajevo International Airport to the roundabout in Mojmilo, was officially opened to traffic. The newly built road, about 1,800 meters long, is one of the most important in the city as it significantly relieves traffic, primarily in Dobrinja and the busy Aleja Bosne Srebrene street, writes Patria.

The opening of the transversal was organized on the occasion of the Day of the Municipality of Novi Grad, in the presence of the Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković, Minister of Transport of KS Mujo Fišo, and the Mayor of the Municipality Semir Efendić.

It was emphasized that this is one of the most important infrastructure projects in the field of transport in Sarajevo Canton, jointly financed by the Ministry of Transport and the Directorate for Roads of KS, and the Municipality of Novi Grad with funds amounting to approximately seven million KM.

- This is a completely new, large-scale road route. It is, so to speak, an avenue with green belts, and along the entire transversal, we also have a bicycle path in both directions. The A transversal connects the settlements of Dobrinja, Saraj Polje, and Olimpijsko with the Airport. In a way, it is also located between the municipalities of Ilidža and Novi Grad, so it is significant for several reasons - stated Mayor Semir Efendić. He added that with the resolution of property-legal relations on this section, the total value of the project will amount to about eight and a half million KM. He emphasized that only budgetary, not loan funds, were secured and used for the realization of the entire project.

The construction of the A transversal began on September 4, 2015, and Prime Minister Konaković emphasized that it was completed in a significantly shorter period than planned.

- Instead of three years, the works were completed in a year and a half, the cost estimate was within realistic limits, and all of this is proof of the efficiency of this local community, as well as the Directorate for Roads, the Institute for Construction, and the Government of KS.

- This is part of our plans realized faster than we planned. For the next year, our priorities are the First transversal towards Vogošća, in the realization of which we expect the Government of FBiH to also participate, then the IX transversal, some regional roads in our suburban municipalities, as well as the completion of some ongoing projects. Sarajevo can truly boast of well-organized transport infrastructure in the period after the aggression, especially in this part of the city - emphasized Prime Minister Konaković, adding that this is how the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina should look.

Minister Fišo said that this is a capital project for Sarajevo Canton, and the newly built road will enable much faster communication between Dobrinja and the central parts of the city.
