Presidency session on Monday, new resignations expected

The resignations of Nermin Nikšić (general secretary and member of the SDP Presidency) and Damir Hadžić (vice president and member of the SDP Presidency) from all party positions in the SDP have stirred up a storm that is still not calming down, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Already today, Damir Mašić, also a member of the SDP Presidency, announced his resignation, stating that he would do so at the party's Presidency session on Monday. Among other things, he called on all members of the SDP Presidency to submit their resignations, noting that it is the least they can do after the catastrophic result in the General Elections.

Hamdija Lipovača, a member of the SDP Presidency, told the Patria agency that it is nice to win, but losing is not a shame either, and that something should be learned from it.

I will submit resignations from all positions, I will fight for the SDP with new young people who have not been able to come to the fore, and whether I might eventually leave the SDP will be shown by the Presidency session on Monday and the Congress in 20 days. Because if the SDP continues on the principle of 'the mountain labored and brought forth a mouse, and everything is the same except he is gone,' then that is not a substantive reform, but rather a system of 'one rogue leaves, another takes his place' – said Lipovača.

Lidija Korać, vice president and member of the SDP Presidency, also announced her resignation. What the other members of the SDP Presidency will do will be known on Monday.

After last night's meeting of the SDP's top leadership, Zlatko Lagumdžija, the president of the SDP, said that at the session of the Main Board on Saturday, October 25, he will make a decision on organizing an extraordinary congress.

- The Congress elected me, and it is the place where the entire leadership should account for itself - said the SDP president Zlatko Lagumdžija after the meeting.
