Kakanj and Tuzla thermal power plants operational: Full stabilisation of electricity supply expected in the evening hours

(Patria) - Electricity supply in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been restored in most of the country. In Sarajevo, some areas are still without power, and full stabilisation is expected in the coming hours.

The power outage in Bosnia and Herzegovina occurred at 12:25 PM, and besides BiH, parts of Croatia, Montenegro and Albania were also left without electricity.

The Independent System Operator stated that the fault occurred in the area between Greece and Albania, but that it spread to the entire region. Details of the fault will be determined in the coming weeks.

In order to stabilise the situation, Elektroprivreda BiH has put hydroelectric and thermal power plants into operation.

A unit at the Kakanj Thermal Power Plant is expected to be operational at 6 PM. Both units of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant should be operational tonight around 8 PM. Full normalisation of electricity supply in the Federation of BiH is expected then.

Istraga.ba reported that after the collapse of the power system, there was a drastic increase in electricity prices on the Hungarian stock exchange. From 7 PM to 8 PM, the exchange price of one megawatt is 371 euros.
