New tourist and recreational offerings planned on Bjelašnica through joint projects of KJP ZOI’84 and KJP Sarajevo-šume

(Patria) - With the aim of expanding and enriching the tourist offer of Bjelašnica, KJP ZOI’84 and KJP "Sarajevo-šume" have initiated the process of establishing joint projects to offer visitors new content.

One of the key plans would relate to the development of an educational walking trail on the route Babin Do – Veliko polje. This is a 4.5-kilometer-long trail, designed as a combination of recreation and education, which would bring visitors closer to the natural riches of the mountain through ten thematic points, info boards, interactive content, and children's educational zones. The walk would be given special charm by a multisensory approach, a walk through nature accompanied by the sounds of birds and forest streams, the scents of aromatic plants, and the touch of interactive installations. Solar lighting along the entire route would extend the possibility of staying in the evening hours, bringing Bjelašnica a completely new experience of night walks in a mountain setting.

In addition, joint management and maintenance of existing walking and bike trails created on the routes of forest roads is planned. In summer, the forest roads would be used for walking and cycling, while in winter they would serve for sledding and Nordic skiing, thereby transforming the same spaces into multifunctional trails available throughout the year. This would ensure their long-term functionality, as well as safety for walkers and cyclists. This model of cooperation would allow the mountain to remain equally attractive in both summer and winter months, creating a basis for a year-round tourist offer.

The cooperation would confirm its ecological and social dimension through the campaign "One ticket – one tree," which would link recreation with environmental protection. Each sold seasonal ticket would mean a newly planted tree on Bjelašnica and Igman, thereby symbolically and concretely building new value for future generations.

Particularly attractive plans include the development of an adventure and zip-line park. Such content would bring new dynamics to the summer season, offering fun and challenge for all generations, from children learning to overcome obstacles among the treetops to adults seeking a dose of adrenaline and a unique view of the mountain. Located in the natural environment of Bjelašnica, these parks would further enrich the offer and make the mountain a place where every family could find something for themselves, from peaceful walks to adrenaline adventures.

As part of a long-term development vision, the construction of an Alpine Coaster would also be considered, which would bring a completely new experience of an adrenaline ride through the forest landscape of the mountain.

The joint vision of the two cantonal enterprises is based on the idea that Bjelašnica becomes a destination for sustainable and innovative tourism, a place where nature, education, and recreation form a unique whole and an additional reason for visitors to return throughout the year.
